Blind Contour Friday 22 - the travelling arm

Well, this poor gentleman sitting in front of me (above), a robust freshman on his way to what I think is a kind of college for gym teachers, was my subject for Blind Contour Friday. Him and the tassle in his hat. Not a good morning, his jacket collar turned into the mouth of an alligator. Horrified, I decided I'd better have another go at it, and show everyone what a great, talented blind-contour-er I was:

Goodness, now his head was starting to come apart and his arm sinking into a pool of water. That poor man! What was happening to me? To reinstate my faith I put aside the blind contour and allowed myself to glance at the page occasionally -- and boldly drew both him and his buddy sitting in the seat in front of him:

And then glancing was not much better than entirely blind. Well, I guess I'll have to settle with the idea that the puffy shapes do have some kind of volume, even if the shapes don't go together. Such is the lesson of the early morning blind contour

Dreaming

This is also my Blind Contour Friday contribution -- the minivan above was a blind contour I drew waiting for the bus to work, at Finch Station. The women below it I drew later on the bus, but not as a blind contour. Looking at the page later it seemed to me they were collectively dreaming of 'a better life.' A life with blind contour minivans.

The way this man sat reminded me of my father.

Joy to you

Father Christmas looks on from the piano bench, before being placed on our tree. In the finest Humanist/Secularist traditions, I have made sure our four year old daughter, Leah, is properly informed that Santa does not exist, but, oh no, she'll have none of it. She saw Santa at the mall, he's totally real. OK, Leah, whatever.

Purchased a new brush pen today, and a new sketchbook. This is the south west corner of Bloor and Bathurst, under the world famous Honest Ed's. I'm drawing from the Pizza Pizza on the north side, enjoying a hot slice on this cold, snowy day.

Morning Montage

A mixture this morning, the world floated by. I'm cheating here, I like to date my posts by the date of the sketch rather than when I post it... I'm posting this sketch on Dec 31st.
