Location

We are about 90 minutes north of Toronto (2 hrs from downtown), straight up hwy 11, half way between Orillia and Gravnehurst, just outside a little town called Washago. It's not too far away and easy to find, so you won't spend your whole weekend in the car.

Here's a map:

.

Check out Mapquest for detailed direcitons to Washago from where ever you may be, or maybe Google Maps for the cool satellite shots.

The cottage is on the Green River, which is part of the Trent/Severn waterways. The water travels north from Lake Couchiching on it's way up to Gerogian Bay, but because we have a low-lying bridge at the south end at Washago, and a waterfall at Cooper's Falls at the north end, there's no major boat traffic.

There's lots nearby, like the famous Casino Rama, the fun and educatonal Saint Marie Among the Hurons, the historical Martyr's Shrine in Midland, or the beautiful Stephen Leacock Museum in Orillia.

Or if none of this grabs you right away, there's still plenty of lazy wandering to do around Washago.
