Four great, world-renowned Canadian cartoonists finally get some recognition here at home from Canada Post.
The Graphic Novelists series was announced at TCAF earlier this year, which honour Chester Brown, Michel Rabagliati, Jillian Tamaki, and Seth, drawn by the artists themselves.
I was really excited this set was being created, but I think I was even more excited to see it on display in our local post office, that it was a common, popular part of our culture. Thirty years ago, I never would have thought graphic novels, let alone graphic novelists, would have been recognized by the culture at large in this way.
Now I’m not so sure whether to keep this set and frame it on the wall somewhere, or use it?
These are four great books and I recommend all four of them.
- Chester Brown: Louis Riel: A Comic-Strip Biography
- Michel Rabagliati: Paul à Québec
- Seth: Clyde Fans
- Mariko Tamaki, Jillian Tamaki: This One Summer
